Laelie Berzon and Patrick Crea have been living in this Carlton North terrace house for the last five years. Both working in the design and furniture space (Laelie is the co-founder of SBW furniture, while Patrick co-founded Studio Ciao), the couple took their time to find their dream house, in their dream location.

After three years of searching for the right home, the couple ‘instantly fell in love’ with 654 Lygon Street as soon as they stepped foot in it. ‘The outstanding natural light was extremely important to us, the proportions were generous, and we just loved the high ceilings’, reflects Laelie. Many of the original details were retained, including the impressive metal pressed ceilings circa 1880 – and in top-notch condition at that! The renovated living room, with French doors opening to the courtyard made this Victorian Terrace a rare find.

Another major drawcard was the location. ‘We wanted to be close to everything, but not on top of it,’ explains Laelie, ‘We love to have a Moritz at Geralds, roll down the hill to La Luna, enjoy a choc top at Cinema Nova, buy too many books at Readings, have a dip at the Carlton Pool, ban ourselves from Pidapipio and Baker D.Chirico and promise ourselves we will run around Princes Park’, she says!

Laelie and Patrick’s family is expanding and they need some more space, which is why they’re ready to pass the front door key onto a new lucky owner.

The next open for inspection for 654 Lygon Street is this Saturday, June 1st from 9.30-10am. Check the full listing for more information!
